The shell consists of six plies (6 mm total thickness), built from a combination of four outer birch plies and two inner walnut plies. This hybrid construction delivers the bright projection and attack of birch, enhanced by the warm, low-end presence of walnut. The result is a rich, balanced snare sound that’s both powerful and musical. Die-cast hoops and Starclassic lugs help focus the tone, while the reliable MCS70 throw-off offers precise snare wire tension adjustment.
